Bringing Back the Stage for You to Showcase Your Skill with Metal

Metal Supermarkets, the world’s largest supplier of small-quantity metals, has officially announced the 10th edition of its annual Metal My Way competition. Designed to help metalworking enthusiasts across the globe showcase their metallic masterpieces, the earlier iterations of this competition has, markedly enough, witnessed over 1,000 eye-catching submissions from across North American and the United Kingdom. These projects, on their part, covered an extensive range, stretching from small engine models, car restorations, commissioned art to large scale renovations and constructions projects. Anyway, coming back to what we can expect this year. Set to run until 31st August 2024, the contest will entertain submissions from both professional and amateur metalworkers, with contestants instructed to send in their photos and videos, plus details of their metal projects, through metalmyway.com. More on the same would reveal how the competition will deliver one grand prize for the project which is deemed as best, and this prize is going to be a Benchtop Band Saw. Beyond that, it will also deliver a separate prize to each winner of four distinct categories, with their prize being a Lincoln Electric Weld Pak. Anyway, the given categories begin from vehicle projects, which packs together car restorations/modifications, engine work, trailer and camper builds, planes builds or restorations, boat builds or restorations, motorized scooter, bike and buggy builds, other ‘moving’ machinery, and still, a lot more. The next category in line is artistic and design projects, where you can expect to cover bases like jewelry, statues, sculptures, as well as other projects with aesthetic designs that do not fall into the other categories, such as musical instruments, computer cases, and more.

Then, you have a category dedicated to furniture and home projects. Here, one is likely to see projects concerned with outdoor/indoor furniture, BBQs, smokers, staircases and railings, interior and exterior home décor or renovations, fire pits, and more. Moving on, another category which is set to be a part of Metal Supermarkets competition is Industrial or Shop Projects. In essence, this one will acknowledge the presence of shop equipment and tool builds, larger scale construction projects or specific aspects of those projects, equipment and tool repair or modification, and more. Rounding up highlights would be knives projects that, like the name might just, will feature knives, alongside swords, blades, and other similar items.

“We’re pleased and excited to launch this year’s Metal My Way contest to showcase the many innovative ways metal can be used when in the hands of creative metalworking professionals and enthusiasts,” said Stephen Schober, President and CEO of Metal Supermarkets. “Metal enthusiasts from across Canada, the US and the UK are welcome to submit their creations as we celebrate the ingenuity of these talented metal workers and artists.”

Talk about how the submissions will be evaluated, the criteria is likely to include complexity, detail and intricacy; scale; uniqueness and creativity; craftsmanship; quantity of metal used; and ingenuity. Furthermore, selections will be made by a committee consisting of Metal Supermarkets corporate staff. Now, while participants are free to submit multiple projects, they will remain eligible to win no more than one prize.

Founded way back in 1985, Metal Supermarkets’ rise up the ranks stems from specializing in the distribution of all types, shapes, sizes, and grades of metal. This includes Aluminum, Hot-Rolled Steel, Cold-Rolled Steel, Stainless Steel, Alloy Steel, Galvanized Steel, Tool Steel, Brass, Bronze, Copper, and more. Complimenting this versatility is how the company also boasts the ability to channel and sheet-process metals as per a customer’s exact specifications. Not just that, it also does the same at an industry-leading pace, while simultaneously mandating no minimum order to ensure maximum accessibility.
